The American Society of Magazine Editors today Twittercast the finalists for the 2019 National Magazine Awards for Print and Digital Media. ASME will celebrate the 54th presentation of the Ellie Awards when each of the 114 finalists is honored at the annual awards presentation five weeks from today.

The 2019 winners will be announced during an evening presentation on Thursday, March 14, at Brooklyn Steel, a music venue in Williamsburg, New York. More than 500 magazine editors and publishers are expected to attend. The winners receive “Ellies,” the elephant-shaped statuettes that give the awards their name. The awards presentation will include the presentation of the 2019 ASME Award for Fiction to Timothy McSweeney’s Quarterly Concern. The five winners of the 2019 ASME Next Awards for Journalists Under 30 will also be honored.

This year 67 titles were nominated in 22 categories, including one new category, Podcasting. Twenty publications were nominated for the most prestigious honor, General Excellence. They included large-circulation titles like Martha Stewart Living and TIME, special-interest magazines like Audubon and Kazoo, literary journals like Poetry and Virginia Quarterly Review and digital-only publications like The Marshall Project and The Trace.

For 28 years, our Women of the Year Awards has honored game changers, rule breakers, and trailblazers. This year’s class of extraordinary females is no exception.

The stories of our Women of the Year Awards honorees often start with the same idea: a woman who refuses to wait for someone else to make things better. Alone, or with an army behind her, she decides to act. This year’s honorees span a wide range of ages, backgrounds, and professions—a park ranger, a musician, a judge, teens who unflinchingly took on Washington in the face of tragedy. But the one thing they have in common is that they’re all using their platforms to improve the lives of women everywhere.

Hosted by Aidy Bryant at Spring Studios in New York City, Glamour‘s 2018 Women of the Year Awards was our most inspiring yet. The 2018 NYSCF Gala included an impressive lineup of guests representing leaders in science, medicine, and the arts, as well as international business leaders and supporters of NYSCF. The guest list included such luminaries as past honorees David A. Carmel, Alan M. Cohen, Victoria Gordon, and Andreas C. Dracopoulos, as well as celebrities such as Martha Stewart, Matt Dillon, Byron Wien, Elie Tahari, and Seth Meyers of “Late Night With Seth Meyers,” who entertained guests with a video created specifically for the occasion.

Other notable guests included Hugh Hildesly, Vice Chairman for the Americas at Sotheby’s; Pulitzer Prize winning architecture critic and author Paul Goldberger; and noted business leader Jacob Gottlieb, CEO of Altium Capital, a New-York based global leader in the field of medical investments who provides investment opportunities in the most impressive companies that are transforming the healthcare industry. Specifically, Altium Capital focuses on promising ventures and companies that are spearheading significant historical advances in the health and medical industry such as the stem cell research carried out by NYSCF and its many colleagues and collaborators.

Several notable artists were also on hand, including Clifford Ross and John Newsom, among many others who donated works for the silent auction held at the event. Newsom’s piece, a charcoal rendering of the moon, was actually inspired in the concept of stem cell research.  Explains the artist, “I was working on a series of paintings depicting the full moon and was thinking of the image of the circle and stem cells and cells, and then the idea of the moon, and it came to me that it was a nice correlation,” he said.

As its name suggests, there was no shortage of glam or girl bosses at the 2018 Glamour Women of the Year Awards in NYC on Monday, November 12. Recognizing incredible women from all backgrounds, Chrissy Teigen, Lupita Nyong’o, Janelle Monae. and Viola Davis. were among the honorees, while past winners and fellow powerhouses like Ashley Graham, Karlie Kloss, Amber Heard. and more were on hand to present the awards. And while the the evening was first and foremost a celebration of girl power, there were also some seriously stylish looks on the red carpet.

The 2018 Glamour Women of the Year Awards returns to New York City tonight with an extra inspirational dose of girl power. 

Now in its 28th year and held at Spring Studios, Glamour magazine brought together the female leaders, trailblazers and independent thinkers whose commitment to breaking the glass ceiling helped shape the world around us.

Recipients of this year’s Women of the Year honor include Chrissy Teigen, Viola Davis, Janelle Monáe, Senator Kamala Harris, park ranger Betty Reid Soskin, Saudi Arabian women’s rights activist Manal al-Sharif, the female leaders of “March for Our Lives” and the hundreds of gymnasts who survived the abuse of Team USA doctor Larry Nassar.
